I want to learn to like hardcore hiphop. Like breakdancing, robo dancing, and like flips and whatnot. I see the people on television and like abdc do it like pro. But where do they learn it? It looks like something to learn from a younger age, but I never see any kids like pwning like that in dance studios or something.

My friend actually is a very good break dancer who happened to learn it from a DVD. If there is a dance studio near you, perhaps you could take lessons. The easiest way is to probably to learn it online. Straight from your computer. Just Google it.
Well… most of my friends that i know, learn from youtube.
and we learn breakdancing.. But i don’t know about robo dancing or hardcore hip hop
Breakdancing is easy to learn off of youtube, so is flips.
Most of us bboys, bgirls, poppers, lockers, house dancers or even just hip hop dancers are self taught. That’s how it’s.. uh.. ‘hardcore’ as you say. You make it sound like it’s easy to learn all this stuff but those ‘pros’ have been dancing probably for more than 10 years. It takes a lot of dedication, commitment and passion to be a dancer whether it be ballet or hip hop or bboying. Bboying probably has the highest chance of getting injured but no pain, no gain right?
First of all, are you doing it because it’s impressive or what? If you wanna do that kinda stuff to impress others, well dude, you’ve already lost my respect. Sure, learn off the internet, off a dvd if that’s what you want to do but really… that’s the worst freaking way to learn. You’re probably doing it wrong half the time considering you’re watching some guy teaching you a specific way to do it when really, there’s probably a way of learning that’s more suited to you. Plus, you only learn the fundamentals off the internet & the tv.. even from a person themself. Dancing is about expressing YOURSELF so really there’s no point asking a guy how he dances like that because they just do it. It’s unexplainable.
And no, hip hop is a style that you don’t have to start off when you’re young. Sure, it helps but a lot of bboys, poppers etc. start off when they’re 18, 19 or even in their 20s. You don’t need to be flexible or strong but of course you’ll have to stretch and work on your core strength to get to your goals. The reason why you dont’ see kids ‘pwning’ in dance studios is cos they’re probably in the scene keeping it real! The really good kids are those who’ve been influenced by older dancers that they know and have taught them.. that’s why they’re so good!
